The Post and Socket Log-Loc comes in two parts, the socket and the post and jaw assembly.
This would be used where the ground is too rough for the freestanding version or you want a slightly more permanent siting for the log-loc. With this the post alone needs moving at the end of each work period, and then any future logging is as simple as putting the post back into the socket.
You would drive the socket into the ground using the post like a slide-hammer (remove the jaws first!), as long as the 'T' is in the ground it will support any normal log securely.

post and jaws for log-loc post and jaws for log-loc

the whole assembly (socket plus post with jaws) weighs only 9.6kg (21lbs) approx.

for a small extra cost you can have the best of both worlds with the combination log-loc(comprising the freestanding base, the socket and an interchangeable post and jaw assembly).

set up is quick and very simple as can be seen in the short instruction video below.
